ドロテア (2013)

ドロテア (lit. Dorothea) (2013) is an ensemble developed during university that refers to oiran (i.e. courtesans) in Edo Japan. In this context, the combination of certain garments and symbols in the work speaks to the relationship between identity and consumerism among other concerns. When worn, it becomes an embodiment of such themes.

ドロテア was last shown in Mestiza/Mestizo (2023) at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum.
